Charter

As of July 1, 2016 there are 28 OPSB Schools, 22 of which are OPSB-authorized charter schools. OPSB serves over 18,000 students across all grade levels, accounting for more than 33% of the citywide public school total.

  • 6 OPSB network schools are currently open under the direction of OPSB central office for the 2016-17 academic year.
  • 22 OPSB charter schools are currently open and operating in good standing for the 2016-17 academic year.
  • 4 existing charter schools transferred to OPSB for the 2016-17 academic year: Pierre A. Capdau Charter School and Lake Area New Tech High School (New Beginnings Foundation), Mary D. Coghill Charter School (Better Choice Foundation), and KIPP Renaissance High School (KIPP New Orleans).
  • 2 new charter schools  conditionally approved by OPSB to open in the 2017-18 school year: JCFA-West and Élan Academy Charter School.
