Message From the Board
The Orleans Parish School Board recognizes that in the best interest of the students, teachers and community, a comprehensive, innovative education model that provides stable learning environments for all students in Orleans Parish is imperative. To make this vison a reality, the Board has prioritized its focus in three key areas:
- FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY Our goals in this regard will include budgeting within revenue, sharing the cost of Legacy Debt, and efficiently managing assets so that the maximum amount of resources will reach our classrooms.
- PUBLIC INTEGRITY We will also focus on fostering a culture of integrity. By enhancing transparency in all fiscal and procurement matters, as well as voluntarily increasing our accountability to and communication with the public, we are determined to regain the trust of the people of New Orleans.
- ENHANCED COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS Our third focus will be on enhanced communication and cooperation with governmental agencies and community stakeholders. Ideas, expertise, and resources can come from many quarters, and we will work to ensure we are taking advantage of every prospect to enhance the educational opportunities for all children in Orleans Parish.
